SENIORS MATCH HOME AGAINST STOKE ROCHFORD 28th June 2024 RESULT D 4 - 4

After our close defeat 5-3 at Stoke Rochford, I was hoping for a 6-2 or better, but we ended on a dry, breezy day with a 4-4 draw. Four of the matches were either tied or down to the 18th so it could have been 6-2 with a couple of putts dropping. Stoke Captain Glyn had to make team changes because of a clashing Charity event at Stoke, but the team that turned out were certainly pretty useful. John Hitchman won NTP for Stoke and Mike Earl for Burghley, both on 16th, I was featuring for a while but in the end wasn't close enough to save the wine for me to recycle.

SENIORS HOME MATCH AGAINST ST NEOTS 24th June 2024 - RESULT W 5 - 3

A warm day, and an early start. George and I recovered from 2 down after 2, to lead 1 up halfway, then get to 3 up only to make a mess of 14 and 16 and we had to halve the 18th for our win. Fortunately, 14 and 16 excepted, one of us was good when the other was rubbish.
For St Neots, Andrew Lowin was NTP, while Phil Hunt, making his comeback to the squad, was NTP for Burghley.

SENIORS MATCH AWAY AGAINST OUNDLE 17th Jun 2024. RESULT L 5 -3

Last year when I was stand-in Captain for this fixture, we lost narrowly 4½ - 3½, so I was hoping for a slightly better result this time and I felt we had a stronger team. In the top game, John Foster didn't have his best putting boots on (he was sinking everything last year) and Mark and I recovered from 2 down to deliver a convincing 5 & 3 win. The next 4 games went to Oundle and in spite of good wins from the "Richards team" and Tim & Clive, we ended up losing 5-3. Not a disaster, but something to avenge in September.
Pete Hickman was (as is often the case) NTP for us, on the difficult 13th, and Chris Hankins took it for Oundle.
The cakes at the halfway house were especially delicious.

SENIORS COFFEE MORNING - Am Am 10th June 2024

10 mixed teams of 3 players took part in the Seniors Coffee Morning Am Am best 2 from 3 to score. Conditions were not ideal with gusty winds & rain showers. Some teams were obviously unaffected by the conditions returning with healthy score cards.
